Busy as a BEE!

In 15 weeks- give or take- we will be meeting miss Emilee. I believe I am still in disbelief that we are adding to the family and even more so that it is going to be a little lady this time. I remember in my college Sociology class when we studied the "perfect family" through social media and such. It was found that the "perfect family" had a mom, dad, and two kids (typically a boy and a girl). I know times have changed and a new definition is becoming more widely accepted. However, for us, this has been nothing short of a dream come true. There are days we definitely feel flustered at the thought of bringing another innocent child into this crazy messed up world. But then we look at the *almost* 2 year old staring at everything in blue eyed curiosity and realize WE get to shape them and help make them into a meaningful part of society so they can hopefully do good in the world. Plus, as everyone says "it would be a sin to not have another since C is so cute!...

Recap of the Staycation!

Changes, changes everywhere. I cannot believe the discoveries we made during our staycation! We discovered some fantastic new locations for C to play, a much needed rejuvenation of mind and body for us parents and finally that vacation with an almost 2 year old was kind of a silly thought to begin with. But hey, we all hold dreams and aspirations and a week on the Gulf Coast will remain just that until sometime next year. During our week-long-torture daddy session we went to The Garden State Discovery Museum (a fantastic new place that C adored), The Baltimore Aquarium, lots of long car rides to ensure napping would happen, a few trips to the mall/store and lots of lounging at home time. We also made a special trip to New Jersey to do a baby registry for Emilee. We had a long list of things we would have loved to do but wanted to keep things on the low key end to help Kyle and I get some rest as well as make sure that C wasn't too overstimulated with things to do.  As I men...

The bathroom door...

Upon my third potty break since I got up this morning I realized I'm one of THOSE people. I leave my bathroom door open when I potty. I admit it. I embrace it. Hell, when you have an almost 2 year old boy who is exceptionally talented at injuring himself or breaking things, I RECOMMEND it!!  I used to be private and lady-like but like I said, I'd rather expose myself to an unexpected visitor than find myself locked in the bathroom with my toddler on the outside because he was super smart and figured out how to lock the child proof lock on the outside of the door.  The only problem is that I have to physically think, "do I need to shut the door before pottying?" Aka- do we have any visitors in our house that would prefer for me to keep my bathroom habits, well, in the bathroom... And 95% of the time it's a no. But that 5% of the time we have visitors I realized pottying with the door closed can be peaceful. Without a toddler splashing in the sink or trying to pull ...

22 Weeks and Happy 3rd Birthday!

First- I forgot to mention that yesterday was Rango's 3rd Birthday. We bought him a bone and said Happy Birthday. That was that. ;-). He may be a pain in the toosh some days but he really is Connor's best friend and companion. Rango's 2nd Birthday and Connor at 9 months old. Rango's 3rd Birthday and Connor at 21 months old. The 22 week update: I thought it was really neat to find the different items Emilee is the size of! How far along:  22 weeks Total weight gain:  16 lbs Maternity clothes:  I whipped out the summer dresses! Sleep:  Heartburn has taken over the comfortableness of sleeping. Although I have more energy than last week! Food Cravings:  Spicy items (which does not help the heartburn) and cheese. Gender: Still a girl. Belly button in or out:  Out Wedding rings on or off:  On Movement: The kicks are more frequent in the evenings and right after I eat cheese. That is about it. Sorry for the double po...

Cancelled plans :-/

Instead of making sure our swimwear and shorts are packed, I am sitting on the couch watching Connor chase the dog. We cancelled our vacation, and it sucks. Here is the story: Last weekend we took a trip to Maryland to drop off some yard sale items, get the car serviced and for Kyle to white water raft with his brother. We had one hell of a drive down. Connor screamed, threw a fit, and refused anything you would hand him. We thought it was just him being cranky. We arrived at my sisters house at 7ish which is Connors bedtime. We let him run around a little and play with the new pup Vince. 8:30 came and we decided it was bedtime. For the next 2 hours it was kicking, screaming, biting and a tantrum for the record books. Both at our breaking points I put the kid in the car and drove around. 5 minutes in to the drive, my car fell silent and I realized we finally succeeded. We put C into his bed and I sunk into ours. 11:30 came and so did some rustling about and crying. I scooped him up qui...
