Busy as a BEE!

In 15 weeks- give or take- we will be meeting miss Emilee. I believe I am still in disbelief that we are adding to the family and even more so that it is going to be a little lady this time. I remember in my college Sociology class when we studied the "perfect family" through social media and such. It was found that the "perfect family" had a mom, dad, and two kids (typically a boy and a girl). I know times have changed and a new definition is becoming more widely accepted. However, for us, this has been nothing short of a dream come true.

There are days we definitely feel flustered at the thought of bringing another innocent child into this crazy messed up world. But then we look at the *almost* 2 year old staring at everything in blue eyed curiosity and realize WE get to shape them and help make them into a meaningful part of society so they can hopefully do good in the world. Plus, as everyone says "it would be a sin to not have another since C is so cute!" (AND we had always talked about 2 kids as to avoid the "only child syndrome").n

Anyways we are busy around the house. And when I say busy I mean BUSY. Our 3rd floor bathtub is leaking again, the contractors are finishing up the stairway remodel (that went a completely different direction than we originally wanted), we are slowly working on the nursery in hopes to get it painted before the weather hits 80 and stays there for the summer, And working on the decor in C's room, AND setting up our room for a baby, AND trying to clear out the basement so we can tile soon and move office/computer equipment to the basement. And we want all of this done before Emilee comes. Yeah, we never said we were realistic in our expectations. But we are definitely overachievers so at least 75% of this list will be done. However, in the meantime we ask that if you are visiting to please excuse the mess. ONE day our renovations and moving furniture days will be done. One day.

Connor had his first bout of a stomach virus or reaction to something. Eight piles of vomit, two changes of clothes and a very tired mommy and daddy later we managed to successfully keep him happy. He went to bed around 7 last night and woke up at 11 carrying George and wanting to be held (which doesn't happen often). I carried him to our bed where he snuggle up next to me and daddy and passed out until 6am. He woke up very cheerful but still pretty exhausted. Typically oatmeal or cereal is his choice for breakfast since that is what Daddy eats. But not this morning. He went right for the freezer and the stash of chocolate ice cream sandwiches. I tried coaxing him into eating a Popsicle but that wasn't happening. So, my child had a chocolate ice cream sandwich for breakfast. I decided to pick my battles with him. If he was eating something I was happy. Note: he came back for the Popsicles about an hour later.

That is about it, we spent Memorial Day walking around center city and at the zoo. C went on his first train ride and LOVED it! We also fed the Lorakeets and that was not on his list of fantastic ideas. We also tried to make it to a Phillies game. We made it through opening ceremony and 1/2 an inning. We left before most people had gotten to the game. But hey, there is always another game and another season.

My 25 week update: I feel massive, achy and tired. Almost to the third trimester!! Emilee kicks a lot and the only craving that has been steady throughout pregnancy is Chocolate. Chocolate brownies, Hershey kisses, twix, kit kat, if it has cocoa in it in any form prepare for me to have it gone in less than 30 seconds. Bananas have once again become an aversion. I tried one bite and felt like I was going to throw up. And Donuts were on my list of "if I don't get it soon I'm going to go preggo crazy on someone". Which is why I drove to Dunkin at 6am Monday morning. Now Subway is on that list. But I will listen to my husband and avoid it. But let me say....... Delivery day we better have a subway sub in my hospital room. Or else.

That is about all with our crazy family. This weekend we are looking forward to a visit from Yaya and Grandad and some mommy and daddy time since our babysitters apparently don't want our money. Next week will be a bit hectic as I have a doctors appointment Monday morning, my younger sisters high school graduation on Tuesday evening in Maryland and another doctors appointment on Thursday.

Oh one last update. C loved the Little Monsters class! I'll be sure to take photos this class!

"This should be interesting..."

After getting both kids to bed (before 8pm mind you!) I have finally had time to sit down and decompress. My morning started out with Emilee stirring in her crib around 4am. I quickly grabbed her and put her in our bed to fall back asleep as she normally does. She started stirring around again at 6am which was my cue to get out of bed and get dressed and ready to leave for her eye appointment. I woke up with that "this should be an interesting day" feeling and low and behold, it was. It was 6:55 when I realized that our wonderful sitter hadn't arrived yet. She is never late, even the one time she thought she was going to be late she was still five minutes early. So when she wasn't here at 7, my mind went crazy. Was she in an accident, had something happened with her family... the list went on with the craziness of Philly news. I sent a text at 7:05 and nothing. I finally switched from worried mom mode to get-in-the-damn-car mode to make the appointment on time. (I...

I am One Month!

Wow how time really flies! Things were so hectic at the end of the pregnancy that I realized I never kept you updated. Birth Story: Well, long story short on 22 July at 10am my water broke. I called L & D and they said to come on in to get monitored and to check the fluid levels etc. Kyle and I thought maybe we weren't really going to be admitted (you know maybe I had had an accident haha). We decided to do the trip to the hospital as a trial run. We got what was left of our bags packed, loaded up the car and stopped at Wendy's for some Chicken Nuggets. (I wanted to make sure I ate something in case I was really in labor and wouldn't get food for a while (Smart thinking on our part!).) So we arrive, they do some awesome monitoring and evaluation and sure enough there was a water leak! They said I would have 24 hours to deliver otherwise they would have to do a c-section. Well for those of you who are reading this and know me, I was scared of getting a c-section (as...

Weeks 23 and 24

Once again things got pretty busy and I did not update for week 23. This is mainly because my sister, brother in-law and nephew came for a visit! It was a great week full of food, Blue Angel Practice Show, Exploreum, putt putt golfing, some shopping and so much more! It was a great opportunity for Kyle and me to be tourists in the town we live in. All in all it was awesome to spend time with the family and show them around. 23 weeks was rather uneventful in terms of Connor. We did have a doctors appointment last Monday and the doctor wrote me a prescription for Nexium for the AWFUL acid reflux that I was having. Now I can enjoy food again without the terrible burning sensations. He also told us that the 20 week ultrasound showed a nice healthy baby with "no gross abnormalities". I could finally sigh in relief knowing that the ultrasound came back great. Now to actually see Connor and check for all 10 fingers and toes! Otherwise he is kicking and hitting up a storm. Kyle was...
