Cancelled plans :-/

Instead of making sure our swimwear and shorts are packed, I am sitting on the couch watching Connor chase the dog. We cancelled our vacation, and it sucks. Here is the story:

Last weekend we took a trip to Maryland to drop off some yard sale items, get the car serviced and for Kyle to white water raft with his brother. We had one hell of a drive down. Connor screamed, threw a fit, and refused anything you would hand him. We thought it was just him being cranky. We arrived at my sisters house at 7ish which is Connors bedtime. We let him run around a little and play with the new pup Vince. 8:30 came and we decided it was bedtime. For the next 2 hours it was kicking, screaming, biting and a tantrum for the record books. Both at our breaking points I put the kid in the car and drove around. 5 minutes in to the drive, my car fell silent and I realized we finally succeeded. We put C into his bed and I sunk into ours. 11:30 came and so did some rustling about and crying. I scooped him up quick and put him into our bed. Success. 2:15 rolls around and Daddy and Mommy are getting poked in the face. The typical routine of a known toddler at his get up time. Except it was 2:15 AM. For 3 and a half hours I tried to get him to go back to sleep. He screamed bloody murder if I held him, looked at him or even spoke to him. I finally gave up and cried from exhaustion and hormones. At 5:30 daddy took him to Yaya and Grandads. Mommy slept for the next 3 hours. I finally met back up with everyone around 9 and at that point Connor FINALLY had fallen back asleep. He took a 2 hour nap.

Fast forward to Saturday night. We let him run outside at my parents house and play and be crazy. Then 8:30 rolled around and he was getting tired, wanting to sit on your lap and rest. I tried rocking him. Daddy tried rocking him. Screams and fighting ensued. We left to put him to bed. He didn't pass out in the car until 30 seconds before pulling into my sisters and when we did, he woke up. We figured we would do a bath and Jammie's and try to do our normal routine. For 2 hours we fought to sleep again. Trying everything from putting him in the room alone to rocking him with cartoons on. Finally at 11:30 I put him in the car and drove. Five minutes later he was out. He slept from 11:30 to 6am.

Kyle and I left Maryland feeling so exhausted that we could barely function. It wasn't the fact of him not sleeping, it was the fighting every night to sleep, the physical act of wrestling a 26lber while being 5.5 months pregnant (or sore from white water rafting in Kyles case). Anyways, we decided that our vacation to Florida would indeed NOT be relaxing or fun if every night we fought our child to go to sleep. So Tuesday morning, after sleeping on it for 2 nights, we decided to cancel for good. Although we won't be traveling to the beautiful southern states we decided to use this time to explore and do fun things in the tri-state area. When, at the end of the day, we can put Connor back into his own bed and bedroom. We are looking at doing a trip to Baltimore for a day, Cape May, some national parks and Cabelas since it opened in Delaware this past week. Maybe get a sitter so Kyle and I can go do a quick registry for Emilee (we only need a few items and clothes). No matter what it will be nice to have a week of spending time together, in our own beds and child proofed home. Plus we can knock out a few tasks we have wanted to get to at the house.

So, yeah. We are bummed but it looks like there is a warm up in the forecast, and lots of fun events going on around the city. I'm definitely focusing on the positives of staying home.

In other news, we had a baby check up on Monday and things look fine. Emilee's heart rate was 145bmp. Connor got to hear the heart beat for the first time. When the doctor said the rate Connor goes "yay!" Haha. He was really good during the appointment. The heartburn and indigestion has kicked up full force. Yesterday, I had awful pressure in my chest all day and I could barely eat dinner. Child better have some hair!! Haha.

Oh and Connor's big boy room is finally coming along nicely. I got his toddler bed set put in yesterday. We are doing Mickey Mouse/baseball theme. He found some Mickey Mouse wall stickers while at Home Depot and was IN LOVE with them! So naturally we bought them. But the bed set is just stripes in case he grows out of Mickey stage. Once the room is all done I will post some pictures as I am really excited to get the rooms organized and decorated! Speaking of which while out shopping we found Emilee's bedding set. It was a super good deal and I'm really excited to get that room together. The color scheme will be Orange, Teal, Grey, and Purple (maybe a hot pink picture frame here or there). However, we aren't rushing to get the room done (per my husbands orders).

That's about it. Today I hit 22 weeks. Once I shower and look partially decent I will post a photo and the 22 week updated stats. Sorry this is long again. I'm apparently a wordy person. Ha.

"This should be interesting..."

After getting both kids to bed (before 8pm mind you!) I have finally had time to sit down and decompress. My morning started out with Emilee stirring in her crib around 4am. I quickly grabbed her and put her in our bed to fall back asleep as she normally does. She started stirring around again at 6am which was my cue to get out of bed and get dressed and ready to leave for her eye appointment. I woke up with that "this should be an interesting day" feeling and low and behold, it was. It was 6:55 when I realized that our wonderful sitter hadn't arrived yet. She is never late, even the one time she thought she was going to be late she was still five minutes early. So when she wasn't here at 7, my mind went crazy. Was she in an accident, had something happened with her family... the list went on with the craziness of Philly news. I sent a text at 7:05 and nothing. I finally switched from worried mom mode to get-in-the-damn-car mode to make the appointment on time. (I...

I am One Month!

Wow how time really flies! Things were so hectic at the end of the pregnancy that I realized I never kept you updated. Birth Story: Well, long story short on 22 July at 10am my water broke. I called L & D and they said to come on in to get monitored and to check the fluid levels etc. Kyle and I thought maybe we weren't really going to be admitted (you know maybe I had had an accident haha). We decided to do the trip to the hospital as a trial run. We got what was left of our bags packed, loaded up the car and stopped at Wendy's for some Chicken Nuggets. (I wanted to make sure I ate something in case I was really in labor and wouldn't get food for a while (Smart thinking on our part!).) So we arrive, they do some awesome monitoring and evaluation and sure enough there was a water leak! They said I would have 24 hours to deliver otherwise they would have to do a c-section. Well for those of you who are reading this and know me, I was scared of getting a c-section (as...

Weeks 23 and 24

Once again things got pretty busy and I did not update for week 23. This is mainly because my sister, brother in-law and nephew came for a visit! It was a great week full of food, Blue Angel Practice Show, Exploreum, putt putt golfing, some shopping and so much more! It was a great opportunity for Kyle and me to be tourists in the town we live in. All in all it was awesome to spend time with the family and show them around. 23 weeks was rather uneventful in terms of Connor. We did have a doctors appointment last Monday and the doctor wrote me a prescription for Nexium for the AWFUL acid reflux that I was having. Now I can enjoy food again without the terrible burning sensations. He also told us that the 20 week ultrasound showed a nice healthy baby with "no gross abnormalities". I could finally sigh in relief knowing that the ultrasound came back great. Now to actually see Connor and check for all 10 fingers and toes! Otherwise he is kicking and hitting up a storm. Kyle was...
