As January Comes to a Close

So maybe this will be an everyother week occurance, I don't know. But I do know that Connor is becoming quite the big boy! We had his 6 month check-up and he weighed in at 17lb 9oz and 26.5-27in long (he was quite the wiggle worm). He looks wonderful and is the 60 percentile for weight and 40 percentile for height. The doctor is very pleased with Connor as a whole. Although I am not pleased with the hospital but that is for another blog altogether!

Connor had his first tooth pop through. It was a bottom front tooth. We had been paying so much attention to those crazy molars  (yes they are still at the surface but won't budge through at all). One day Kyle's finger was pulled into Connor's mouth and he felt something sharp. The next day he pulled my finger into his mouth and I felt it. So I pryed his mouth open and TADA a tiny top of a pearly white tooth! It is very slowly coming in so once you can see some of the tooth I will be sure to post the picture!

Aside from teething we began a new sleep training book. It has seriously worked wonders. We went from waking up every 1-2 hours to sleeping almost through the night (minus one brief waking somewhere between 12-2am and then wanting to get up between 5-6am). Naps are getting longer and for the most part Connor is able to put himself to sleep without problems and without crying. Alogether we are getting on a better routine and NOW we can actually start to do things outside the house on a schedule! This Friday we are going to the park for the first time, swim lessons will be starting in March, and there is story time for babies-toddlers at the local library. Now maybe my cabin fever can slowly melt away as my sanity returns.... maybe.

I say maybe simply because Kyle is due to get underway for a nice long trip which leaves me here, in Florida, alone. I can handle things, I have done it before, but it's always nice to have the option to take a shower and not worry if the baby is going to wake up as you are shaving your legs, have to hurry and miss half the other leg. But seriously, who am I kidding, I don't shave my legs when Kyle isn't home! Same scenario but washing my hair... that I do on a regular basis! I will be absolutely excited for our next duty station which will be more like a regular job. Some schooling (at the max 6 weeks) but we have done 17 weeks apart before so I don't really stress about it much anymore. It will just be nice to have my husband home, watching Connor's firsts with me rather than through video taken on the phone or posted on the internet.

Speaking of the next duty station, we do not know yet where or when. Once we do, don't worry I will let everyone know. Trust me, I am as anxious as you are to find out where we will next call home and make our memories!

Now, on to the exciting news (NO, NO BABY). Kyle purchased his first motorcycle! I know some of you may not find it that exciting but for him it was a golden moment, right next to the birth of his son (and MAYBE our wedding, who REALLY knows?).  But it's a Harley Davidson Sportster 883. It's loud. The dog barks. Connor now has a motorcylce face and it's hilarious. He will push out his lips,  breath out his nose real fast and hold out his arms while "revving" his engine with his right hand. I have video I may upload later. And no, I have not been on the bike yet, I did purchase a kick-ass helmet though ;-).

I think that about wraps up the last two weeks. I will be sure to take photos at the park, because it's his first time and daddy won't be there. There also are a lot of Mardi Gras events going on throughout February that Connor and I will be attending. So look for those pictures too!

Enjoy the last few days of January, it's flying by!!

"This should be interesting..."

After getting both kids to bed (before 8pm mind you!) I have finally had time to sit down and decompress. My morning started out with Emilee stirring in her crib around 4am. I quickly grabbed her and put her in our bed to fall back asleep as she normally does. She started stirring around again at 6am which was my cue to get out of bed and get dressed and ready to leave for her eye appointment. I woke up with that "this should be an interesting day" feeling and low and behold, it was. It was 6:55 when I realized that our wonderful sitter hadn't arrived yet. She is never late, even the one time she thought she was going to be late she was still five minutes early. So when she wasn't here at 7, my mind went crazy. Was she in an accident, had something happened with her family... the list went on with the craziness of Philly news. I sent a text at 7:05 and nothing. I finally switched from worried mom mode to get-in-the-damn-car mode to make the appointment on time. (I...

I am One Month!

Wow how time really flies! Things were so hectic at the end of the pregnancy that I realized I never kept you updated. Birth Story: Well, long story short on 22 July at 10am my water broke. I called L & D and they said to come on in to get monitored and to check the fluid levels etc. Kyle and I thought maybe we weren't really going to be admitted (you know maybe I had had an accident haha). We decided to do the trip to the hospital as a trial run. We got what was left of our bags packed, loaded up the car and stopped at Wendy's for some Chicken Nuggets. (I wanted to make sure I ate something in case I was really in labor and wouldn't get food for a while (Smart thinking on our part!).) So we arrive, they do some awesome monitoring and evaluation and sure enough there was a water leak! They said I would have 24 hours to deliver otherwise they would have to do a c-section. Well for those of you who are reading this and know me, I was scared of getting a c-section (as...

Weeks 23 and 24

Once again things got pretty busy and I did not update for week 23. This is mainly because my sister, brother in-law and nephew came for a visit! It was a great week full of food, Blue Angel Practice Show, Exploreum, putt putt golfing, some shopping and so much more! It was a great opportunity for Kyle and me to be tourists in the town we live in. All in all it was awesome to spend time with the family and show them around. 23 weeks was rather uneventful in terms of Connor. We did have a doctors appointment last Monday and the doctor wrote me a prescription for Nexium for the AWFUL acid reflux that I was having. Now I can enjoy food again without the terrible burning sensations. He also told us that the 20 week ultrasound showed a nice healthy baby with "no gross abnormalities". I could finally sigh in relief knowing that the ultrasound came back great. Now to actually see Connor and check for all 10 fingers and toes! Otherwise he is kicking and hitting up a storm. Kyle was...
