Other than our succession of being sick for almost a month, I believe the Reese Family is on the mend! I am not sure if it is the constant schizophrenic weather or our move back to 4 seasons, but we have ALL been sick. (And I say ALL becuase even Kyle "the invincible" missed 1.5 days of work because of "the Plague".)
However, our nasty coughs, runny noses, and exhaustion did not keep us from going to Johnson's Farm in Medford, N.J. for a hayride, apple picking and pumpkin picking. And then the following day a visit to Lancaster and the Renaissance Faire.
Johnson's Farm
What a fun family trip!! We thought this year since Connor was older, we could actuallya go to a place and let him pick his own pumpkin. And since apples are in season and we have an "apple monster" why not pick a few of those too. When we pulled up to the place it was packed with kids and adults, pumpkins and apples. It was the exact description of "FALL"(except for the very warm weather). We paid for our hayride ticket and made our way to the tractors that were lined up to take us into the fields. After passing our ticket to the collector we made our way on the hay covered wagon and held on tight. Connor was amazed and so curious. He took in everything!

We pulled up to our first stop- the apple orchard. Since Connor loves eating apples we decided to get off and pick a few. The Farmer gave us our lecture on what to do and not do (i.e. eat the apples before taking them home and washing them HA!). Then we began to pick apples. Since the prices aren't super cheap we decided to do a 1/2 peck of apples. Daddy started pulling some, Connor caught on really quick. They were pulling apples left and right!

After we decided we should stop or our bank account might get emptied on apples, we climbed back onto the wagon and on to the Pumpkin Patch!
It was a longer ride through the farm (120 acre farm with so many fruits and vegetables, such a dreamy place!) We finally pulled up to the patch and stepped into the dirt. We put Connor down and waited to see where he would take off to. HE SAT DOWN! On his butt.... in the middle of the patch. I think it may have been overwhelming at first. But once we showed him the pumpkins, he was off! He found his pumpkin in less than a minute and refused to touch any other pumpkin. Mommy and Daddy spent a few minutes picking out our smaller pumpkins (trying to carry a 23lber, three pumpkins and George is not an easy tasks. HA!) So we settled on our pumpkins and made our way back to the wagon for our ride to pay. The trip was a lot of fun. Even as tired and sick as we felt we knew we had to go this weekend otherwise we might not make it to Pumpkin Pick at all before Halloween.

P.A. Renaissance Faire
I have yet to determine what goes through people's minds when attending the Renaissance Faire (either in Pensacola or in Pennsylvania). I mean, there is just a whole other culture when you step into the gates of the "past" or the "strange and delusional". So, the whole idea is to step into the past for authentic feeling of the renaissance period. Well, I felt more like stepping back into a period of annoying accents and terribly dressed individuals. I need to find the 60's-70's throwback period, I feel I would fit in (except for the drugs) and wait... isn't that called woodstock. I derail. Anyways, we paid an excessive amount of money to go to the faire and got a ticket stub (like one you would do a 50/50 raffle at a high school soccer game). We walked through the gates and were welcomed with "How do you fair?" I probably gave the weirdest look imaginable (and you have seen my faces I am sure). We continuted walking and found lots of great little shopping venues (great in terms of "if you are into chainmil (sp?) bikini's and leather things). I was lost in another world. But anyways, we ( I forgot to mention that before going to the Fair we stopped off at Katie and Nick Wetzel's house-- friends from college. We convinced them to come along-- SORRY AGAIN!) so, we, looked through the brochure and saw they had shows. The artillary demonstration was first up and a very interesting experience. Nothing too exciting. Connor wasn't really impressed, we actually took it back to the Renaissance period and played a game with some stones he found and befriended.

We walked around some more, got some really good tasting root beer, a free wine tasteing, watched some vulture show and the human game of chess. The problem was that most things were really terribly rehearsed. It was terrible. That included the jousting. I mean 3 passes on horse and they missed 2 times, one got dehorsed and then they broke out into a sword fight. REALLY??? Whatever, it was an experience, an item to cross of the "Been there, done that and I don't think I will waste my money again".
So far the Fall season, minus our nasty illnesses, is shaping up to be a great one! I am looking forward to the many events we have planned this month including 2 weddings, birthday party, the visit from the Ward's and more!!
I hope you enjoyed the somewhat long post this time. Sorry if I offend anyone with our Renaissance Faire portion. It is our OPINION only and should be taken heavily NOT!!
So with that I say GOOD DAY SIR!~
