September- where did you go so quickly? We have began prepping for Halloween and thinking about Christmas presents, and before you know it we will sign our checks with 2015. I wish time would slow down some, as the kids keep growing so quickly. I feel like everyday I am seeing Connor do something new with his vocabulary (not always for the better). And Emilee is growing like a weed. She hit one month old last week and I just can't figure out where those days have gone.
So each month I think I will do a new layout so that I hit on everything and everyone. If, this layout doesn't work this month for me, prepare to get a new one next month!
Our Family Update:
When September hit, we were ready to get out of the house and back to our normal weekend outings. Our first outing as a family was to buy a TV for our bedroom- silly I know but there is something about just crashing at the end of the day with a mindless television show and being snuggled in bed. Our second outing was back to buy a chest freezer because of my crazy over supply of breastmilk. Yeah, there is well over 400 oz of milk in the freezer right now. We decided to get a little creative with our next outing and went to Linvilla Orchard for some apple/pear picking. It was a bit of a chaotic mess. I am sure people were wondering if we were indeed capable of having two children (we weren't that bad but a nap was definitely necessary post-orchard). When our families visited we took a little break with outings to spend time with everyone. Then my older sister visited and I figured, she has two kids this must be a breeze for her-- let's go to the mall!! Well, it wasn't a disaster but I definitely couldn't have done it without her! The next day we decided to go to Linvilla Orchard again to meet up with some coworkers of Kyle's. Can I just say our first SUCCESS! It was amazing and we felt so accomplished... until we decided to take an extra 30 minute drive to the mall to try and find an outfit for everyone for our photos. Meltdown central. Record time in the mall too--10 minutes and we loaded the car back up and go the heck out of there! (I will say, the new IPhone just came out so it was pretty chaotic in the mall which does not lend a hand to a calm 2 year old.) Our final trip out so far has been to the Zoo. It was risky but we figured, we have a membership so we aren't wasting money if C or E melts down. And go figure, we had a nice, relaxing and dare I say, FUN morning at the zoo! We are getting the kids into an evening routine and during the day, I feel like things are falling into place. I still wonder how the heck anyone has more than two kids. There are days that I wonder if I will stay sane with two! Altogether we are doing amazing and a large portion of that is thanks to our family who has visited and the friends here in the city.
Kyle and Steph Update:
I would separate us but c'mon we'd have two sentences to type. Kyle completed his board that had been hanging over his head for a while. So we got to go out and celebrate with some friends thanks to YaYa being here to watch the kids. It was fantastic to get to go out as a couple for the first time since we've had both kids-- and not have to pay an arm and leg for a baby sitter who MIGHT cancel on us at the last minute. We owe a lot of our sanity to Yaya-- she has definitely been our saving grace this past year. Kyle is prepping to run a half marathon in November and I just joined a gym for the first time. I am excited to get into shape again and also have an outlet for stress/sanity. Oh and I owe a big thank you to my husband for wrangling the kids while I had my first girls day/night on Saturday. It had been since College that I had a real go-out and have fun with a group of ladies. I almost chickened out with the night part but I had such a blast. The next morning was a tad rough but I am beyond thankful to have had the chance to hang out with some awesome ladies. Otherwise on our front there is nothing much with us!
Connor Update:
Most of the day I am attempting to redirect him from some daredevil act or being a typical 2 year old. He is becoming increasingly smart and knows how to get exactly what he wants. He is still as sweet as can be and really loves his baby sister. He tries to give her the pacifier when she is crying and helps us feed her with the bottle-- granted most of the time he is a little rough but he is a HUGE helper. His favorite activities right now include coloring, playing with his Mr. Potato Head set, being incredibly goofy to get a laugh and playing with Rango. OH, and running around the house screaming while baby sister sleeps-- that's fun. He is growing like a weed-- last night I literally had a dream he grew as tall as I was but was still in 2T clothes. Haha..
Emilee Update:
Well, the little lady is turning into a little chunky monkey. She has outgrown a couple outfits and gained almost 2lbs since birth!! We couldn't be more pleased with her growth and the doctor's have agreed! I am not sure where I left off with all of her testing updates but currently we have a working thyroid with normal levels at the moment- a follow up in about 6 months. Her Early Intervention appointment went fine, we are due for the evaluation tomorrow morning. She has already her head up for us for at least 5 seconds and can look around for about 8-10 seconds before flopping it down. Her cardiologist appointment was yesterday and they confirmed that her vessel did close up but that she has Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). It is not currently a serious problem. However, she will have a follow up in one year to see if the "hole" has closed. If not then we are left talking about a procedure to close the "hole" between the ages of 2 and 5. A definite scary thought but something that will ultimately help her live a full and healthy life. She is still having some issues with her reflux but most days are getting better- we are hoping that is because her muscle tone is getting better. Otherwise, she is doing fabulously. And she is looking forward to meeting all of the family in Maryland next month. I will give a heads up that I might be a little OCD about handwashing simply because of the flu months and her decreased immune system. Please realize that I am not being a crazy bitchy mom by any means but I cannot imagine seeing her in hospital setting again anytime soon.
Upcoming events for us!
October is a fully packed month-
--We will be visiting family from the 11th to 25th and all the fantastic plans we have during that stay!
--Halloween and trick or treating
-- I'm hearing possibilities of an "Aunt" visiting us....
-- and an open weekend this weekend (say what?!)
And in the final news I really do love/hate this city. The doctor's have been amazing with Emilee and handling her medical concerns, I hate the parking fees (over $100 spent in the last month and a half), I love the number of events that continually are occurring, I hate taxi's and traffic, I love the friends we have made.
Oh and one more note: I am beyond proud of my younger sister, Holly. On Monday she swore in with the Army National Guard. She is due to go to basic at the end of January. A huge Congratulations sent her way as she studied and worked out endlessly to achieve this accomplishment!!!!
And that is about it! I have a ton of photos to post from all of our adventures and will do so on a separate post since it seems that neither kid would like to do a quiet activity right now.... and I need to order groceries--like yesterday!
