I had originally claimed I would post this last week but life got busy.
Go Figure.
So here is the list of ideas for the kids for Chirstmas-- I have attached links so you see what I am talking about. If you have questions just ask!
Emilee:
Of course we have a bazillion toys left over from Connor's infancy but there are a few ideas the OT suggested specifically for development. We ask that if you are going to purchase any of these toys that they be from the specific brand of Sassy not because I want to be a crazy lady but because they are designed with development in mind. They have the color combinations and stimulation specifically to help babies with developmental disabilities.
1. Sassy Bumpy Ball-
2. Sassy First Sounds Book and Cube Set-
3. Sassy Keyboard Classic Rattle--
4. Munchkin Nursery Projector and Sound Machine
5. Sassy Mirror
These items can be found online at the link. If you don't online shop, these items can be hard to find in store. The nursery projector can be found at Target, Toys R Us or Walmart. OR You can pick out something that fits these descriptions:
1. Lights up and makes noise but isn't extremely in your face and frantic feeling.
2. Picture books with only one item per page.
3. Rattle that makes noises as you turn it
4.Anything that provides opportunity to feel different textures.
If you are unsure or need help let me know!
Connor:
Like when we were kids, I allowed Connor to get a pen and circle the items he wanted from the Christmas books we received in the mail. Like every 2 year old the books are full of scribbles. BUT, you could very clearly see what he REALLY wanted from the amount of circles on certain objects.
1. Hungry Hippo game--- I even got the hands together and "PEASSSSSS!" when he showed me the book.
2. Toy Story movies on DVD or Blu Ray (he does not have any of them).
3. Thomas the Train seems to be growing in popularity with him.
4. As usual anything Mickey Mouse or Curious George or with dinosaurs or with Mater or lightening McQueen.
5. Planes Fire and Rescue movie was also circled like crazy.
6. Lego Duplo Block sets. He seems to enjoy playing with these more than the megabloks- I think due to their size. So a set or so of these would be wonderful.
7. Playdough! Any accessories or packages--- something he hasn't tried to eat FINALLY!
8. Crafting supplies like stickers, construction paper, and markers (crayons are still a no go as he can't seem to understand they are not to be eaten).
9. Itunes gift cards for his games on the Ipad that cost money.
10. Bath toys! (Preferably ones that don't have holes in the bottom as we can't keep the nasty mold and mildew out :-/.)
Items we ask that you avoid this Christmas: Puzzles, coloring books, and hot wheel CARS (please save my sanity and don't purchase any more of them unless you see one that is so cool you HAVE to buy it ;-)
I think that about sums it up. If you are looking to purchase any clothing items for the kids Emilee is in a size 0-3 or 3 month at the moment, so shoot for 3 months or larger for Christmas time and thereafter. Oh, and accessories like bows, hats and headbands are welcome. Connor is in size 2T clothes and size 8.5 shoe.
It looks like we will not be visiting Maryland until Christmas Day since Kyle has duty for Thanksgiving and there are so many things planned for the weekends between now and Christmas. So please text or call or facebook me if you have any questions about what to get the kids or where to find them. Hopefully this helps some.
Take care and stay warm!
