December 4th-- December 5th

Throwback Thursday:

The 4 December 2009 was a Friday. Kyle and I had set up this awesome weekend to go to New York City, my first time in the "Big Apple". We left from Philadelphia and drove to Staten Island to stay at the Navy Lodge- my first experience in the military hotel system because Kyle was a recent boot camp graduate. We arrived in the afternoon and had big plans for the evening as we were only staying for two nights and wanted to see EVERYTHING! We quickly changed into our "fancy" clothes to go to The Radio City Christmas Spectacular Show with the Rockettes. It was such a fantastic show! Afterwards, we went to see the Rockefeller Tree. And the story goes from here..... we all know it is such a large tree and so special. Well, my first reaction was "where is this tree" as I am blatantly stare at it. As Kyle reassured me that this is the tree everyone comes to see, I reply "It's so small!!" (And to this day, I cannot live it down). After getting over the less-than-magical tree we stood looking around and just taking in the city which is when from behind me reached an arm with a black box and a sparkly diamond. The rest is history.....

4 December 2009
Look at that tree.... seriously, who thought it was THAT small?!

It has been six years since that day and let me say the rollercoaster we have been on since then could fill a book. The days spent apart, the days spent together, the weddingS* we have had, the babies we gave life to and more importantly the everyday moments that make us laugh, and cry and cherish the small things.

*Let me come clean about something......hopefully I don't upset some friends for the lack of intell, and if I do, I apologize. I say weddingS because we had two weddings. The first occurred on August 17, 2010, my senior year of college, and a few months before Kyle was due to go to OCS. I became Mrs. Stephanie Reese on vacation in Pensacola, Florida. It was the quickest wedding I have ever attended. We read some booklet at the Courthouse, went in to a tiny room with a poorly decorated arch, said I do, kissed and bam- Married! We didn't exchange rings because we didn't want people to know we were married before our wedding date in May. Why? Well, some people really wanted to attend the ceremony, whether it was in a courthouse or the country club. The problem was picking a date that worked for everyone before our planned date in May and things just became too complicated. So we said screw it, lets do it on vacation. Why did we do it?  I needed good health coverage and we were able to get BAH and pay increase for the time Kyle was OCS to save for the wedding and to pay bills since I was not working my senior year. Now why am I coming clean? My grandmother was the only one in my immediate family that did not know about this. Since she passed away, I figure it is time that everyone knows the truth so we can celebrate both dates because they both are so important to us. (And for the record, I did come clean to her while saying my final goodbye. I am sure she will haunt my ass for the rest of eternity.)

So, that was yesterday, the kids woke up from their naps and I got busy and didn't think to finish this post. But today is December 5th! And it marks the 9.5 years that Kyle and I have spent together. In June it will be 10 years and it is just crazy to think about. I know he only occasionally reads the blog posts but I just want to say that if you are reading this, I love you and I love our life together. We have a crazy beautiful life and I am so thankful that I get to spend everyday calling you mine.

Now, so I don't delay in posting this I am going to end the story and the confession and pray that my bridesmaids who didn't know about this two wedding thing still love me in the end ;-).

"This should be interesting..."

After getting both kids to bed (before 8pm mind you!) I have finally had time to sit down and decompress. My morning started out with Emilee stirring in her crib around 4am. I quickly grabbed her and put her in our bed to fall back asleep as she normally does. She started stirring around again at 6am which was my cue to get out of bed and get dressed and ready to leave for her eye appointment. I woke up with that "this should be an interesting day" feeling and low and behold, it was. It was 6:55 when I realized that our wonderful sitter hadn't arrived yet. She is never late, even the one time she thought she was going to be late she was still five minutes early. So when she wasn't here at 7, my mind went crazy. Was she in an accident, had something happened with her family... the list went on with the craziness of Philly news. I sent a text at 7:05 and nothing. I finally switched from worried mom mode to get-in-the-damn-car mode to make the appointment on time. (I...

I am One Month!

Wow how time really flies! Things were so hectic at the end of the pregnancy that I realized I never kept you updated. Birth Story: Well, long story short on 22 July at 10am my water broke. I called L & D and they said to come on in to get monitored and to check the fluid levels etc. Kyle and I thought maybe we weren't really going to be admitted (you know maybe I had had an accident haha). We decided to do the trip to the hospital as a trial run. We got what was left of our bags packed, loaded up the car and stopped at Wendy's for some Chicken Nuggets. (I wanted to make sure I ate something in case I was really in labor and wouldn't get food for a while (Smart thinking on our part!).) So we arrive, they do some awesome monitoring and evaluation and sure enough there was a water leak! They said I would have 24 hours to deliver otherwise they would have to do a c-section. Well for those of you who are reading this and know me, I was scared of getting a c-section (as...

Weeks 23 and 24

Once again things got pretty busy and I did not update for week 23. This is mainly because my sister, brother in-law and nephew came for a visit! It was a great week full of food, Blue Angel Practice Show, Exploreum, putt putt golfing, some shopping and so much more! It was a great opportunity for Kyle and me to be tourists in the town we live in. All in all it was awesome to spend time with the family and show them around. 23 weeks was rather uneventful in terms of Connor. We did have a doctors appointment last Monday and the doctor wrote me a prescription for Nexium for the AWFUL acid reflux that I was having. Now I can enjoy food again without the terrible burning sensations. He also told us that the 20 week ultrasound showed a nice healthy baby with "no gross abnormalities". I could finally sigh in relief knowing that the ultrasound came back great. Now to actually see Connor and check for all 10 fingers and toes! Otherwise he is kicking and hitting up a storm. Kyle was...
